MISCELLANEOUS TIPS
ON FEEDING ENVELOPES
Machines this applies to: all
Ryobi and Itek duplicators.
Envelopes vary widely in size and
quality and therefore also require a variety of setups for the best feeding
results. Here are a few things that may help.
- Remove the spring from the levers at
the left side of the bale bar. This stops the bale bale from lifting
off of the envelope pile and may decrease the bouncing of the front and back
of the envelope stack as the bar comes down on it.
- try reversing the side spring
brackets on the paper guides so that the flat edge of the brackets (instead
of the springs) are holding the side of the envelope stack. This
allows the top of the stack to stay a little more level.
- Put a rubber band around the back
guide spring to prevent the back of the envelopes from bouncing up as the
bale bar pushes down.
- If you're running window envelopes
and you get occasional folding back of the edge of the window cutout when
the bale bar catches on it try this: Install three of four plastic
wire ties on the bale bar. You can leave them on permanently and they
can be moved if necessary for best effect. This raises the bar up a
little so it can't catch on the edge of the window. (THANKS TO RICH
ZEINER AT BCX PRINTING IN MESA FOR THIS TIP)
- Envelopes usually feed best using
the heavy paper setup described in the "Tips for Paper Feeding"
page of this Troubleshooting section.
